An electrical and thermodynamic machine operates with fissile material or with an oil-fired or gas-fired burner. Two main assemblies revolve in opposite direction about a central (vertical) shaft. One assembly comprises a rotor casing and the other a turbine unit. The rotor casing comprises the rotor for electricity generation, while the turbine unit is equipped for mechanical power take-off. Appts. is used as a mobile power plant or prime mover, e.g. as an engine for a helicopter. If the assembly is powered by nuclear fuel, its relatively small size enables its ultimate disposal to be comparatively simple and inexpensive. It may also be powered by oil or gas or by future biological energy.
