Flame and heat resistant material for protective clothing - contains mineral fibres to act as loose outer heat shield

Protective material intended for use outside a protective garment composed of foam enriched with activated charcoal, as clothing to shield from atomic, biological or chemical poison gases and the like, consists of a yarn composed of several fibres; at least one of these fibres has a high heat resistance. More specifically, the high-heat resistant component is a mineral fibre. The core of the yarn may be composed of this mineral fibre and the other fibres may be of a cotton, wool, synthetic fibres or regenerated cellulose. This outer material when finished may be treated to render it flame-resistant and to inhibit the retention of chemical and biological substances. Used as an outer garment, where the inner garment protects against poison gases, attack by bacteria, viruses, etc. The outer material is intended to provide flame protection thus preventing the inner garment from being damaged.
