The rubbish press is for reducing or compressing rubbish or litter etc. It has a press container supported in a base frame and a motor-driven press ram. The press container (8) which is fixed below the movable press ram (23,26) has a laterally removable base plate (34). The press container is arranged in the top section of the base frame above an acceptor chamber for the compressed waste. Specifically the press container (8) and its base plate (34) can be slid sideways out of the base frame.
