In a new process for the controlled chemical digestion of foetal and embryonic organ tissues for therapeutic purposes using the vapours of chemical reagents, the powdered substrate and the digesting reagent (the b.pt of which at atmospheric pressure is above room temp) are placed together or separately in a closed system and subjected to a vacuum which permits transfer of the digesting reagent to the vapour phase. A predetermined amt of the reagent is deposited on the substrate by lowering the vacuum and, after the desired reaction time, excess reagent is removed from the substrate by increasing the cacuum. The foetal or embryonal organ tissue is pref in deep- frozen, pulverised form and typically consists of tissues from foetal borine liver, lungs, spleen, gut, thymus, heart muscle and brain. Used in the prod of immunostimulant and antitumour prepn from foetal and embryonal organs.
