The gear cutting machine is intended for producing gear wheels (1) with a transmission and a coupling tooth rim and comprises two (11,21) machining stations. At the first station, the blank is rotated step-wise whilst the teeth are cut by an inclined milling cutter reciprocating parallel to the gear axis. At the second station, the work is rotated by meshing engagement with the cut teeth. It is de-burred and chamfered at its edge by a rotating cutter (29) carried on a swivel arm (56). The work may be moved towards and away from the station by a chain conveyor (31-33).
