Eye-splice in braided cordage - having rope end and standing part rove alternately through each other

Method for making an eye-splice in braided cordage commences by parting the strands in the standing part of the rope to form an aperture through which the end of the rope is passed to form the eye. A second aperture is then formed in the end-section of the rope, and the entire eye is roved through this aperture, after which a sharp pull on the eye draws the second aperture below the first, onto the standing part. The end is secured by seizing, or by sticking it through the wall of the braid into the centre of the rope. The splice is quick and simple to produce, does not reduce the strength of the rope, and has a strength comparable to the rope strength.
