Desalination, cooling and wetting of hot waste gas by scrubbing - with aq. salt soln. with removal of salt separating from supersaturated soln. before recycling

Desalination is by contact with an aq. wash liquor contg. salt. This soln. takes up (pt. of) the salt, cools the gas and (largely) saturates it with steam. The soln. running into the dwell zone is supersatd. with at least one salt, which crystallises out and is removed, whilst the remaining liquor is recycled. Pref. the crystallised salt is sepd. in a centrifuge. Pref. the cooled gas is washed again with a circulating liquor having a low salt content, pt. of which is mixed with the wash liquor returned from the dwell zone. The salt and water-insol. solids, e.g. oxides and dust, are obtd. as a disposable solid, with low water content, whilst no saline waste liquor is formed.
