The hydraulic cylinder is in the form of a flexible hose containing a reciprocating piston, fixed to a piston rod. On one side, the piston is acted upon by a pressure medium which is fed from outside through the piston rod. The outside diameter of the piston (2) is greater than the inside diameter of the cylinder (1), and on the side, away from the piston rod, the cylinder has a further connecting branch for the pressure medium. Preferably the piston is fitted with a flexible seal (12) and a piston guide (13) of diameter greater than that of the cylinder.
