In residual monomer sepn. from vinyl chloride polymers prepd. in aq. dispersion, most of the residual monomers are sepd. and part of the water is opt. dried in a warm air stream, following which gas and solid particles are sepd. and treated with gas in a turbulent bed. Novelty consists in effecting (a) polymer powder sepn. from the air-stream used in drying and (b) turbulent bed treatment together in the same separator compartment. The air quantity used for causing turbulence is 1/5 to 1/100 of the air quantity used for drying. Residual monomer content can be reduced to 10 ppm with low energy consumption.
