The tractor-drawn ground compaction roller has rings penetrating into the loose earth and compressing it, while vibrations are generated by unbalanced weights rotating inside it. Between the roller (1) and the weights (18) there is a speed- increasing gear train (14) turning with a shaft (9), so that vibration is automatically generated as the roller travels over the ground. All the drive mechanism for the weights can be accommodated inside the roller, and it can incorporate a gear (13) inside the roller and fixed to the end (4), so as to turn with the roller.
