The sensor is intended for both the vertical and rotary velocities for stabilisation and vertical alignment of a marine aerial. It comprises a rotation-symmetrical buoyant body inside a liquid-filled container. A liquid-filled sphere (8) is used as the buoyant body, and the container is also in the form of a hollow sphere (4) or of toroidal shape, of greater diameter. The outer surface of the inner sphere contacts the inner surface of the larger one. The small sphere is of thin-wall structure and has small bores (10). Both spheres may be filled with a liquid of only slightly different specific weight, that in the inner sphere being higher. Typically both spheres are completely filled with liquid. The system provides a high sensitivity for the measured rotary movements, considerably suppression of translatory movement in the frequency range of the ship's motion, and possibly linear angular function in the region of zero position.
