Rotary kiln sintering zone temp. measurement - uses infrared detector fed via glass fibre lens and scoured conductor

A conventional infrared radiation thermometer(3) is used for temp. measurement. It contains a glass fibre lens(4) connected to a glass fibre conductor(5). The conductor connects the lens to an infrared detector(6) whose output is fed to an electronic unit(7). A supply system(8,9,10) provides the glass-fibre lens with scouring gas. The glass fibre lens is arranged at the periphery of the oven burner source(2) and is protected by a dust deflector plate. The glass fibre conductor(3) has a protective outer tube and leads out of the lance to the detector. The lens observation cone(13) is directed at the material(14) in the oven. Accurate measurements are obtd. even in the presence of high dust concns.
