Overrun interlock for rotating shaft - has gear train driving lead-screw with set stops to trigger interlock preventing rotation of transformer switching stage

A mechanical interlock is used to prevent overrun of a shaft position. The system is particularly suited to stage switched transformer systems. The shaft (1) is driven either by an electric motor (2) over a coupling or by a manual back up system (4). Located on the shaft is an interlock disc (7). The motor output is taken over a gear train (8) to drive a stage switching unit (17). End stops (16) are mounted on the leadscrews (9) and at a set height an interlock bar (13) is tripped to inhibit the interlock disc.
