Heavy duty dimmer control - has metallic body for dissipating heat to surrounding air, and fits standard flush mounting wall box

The dimmer is intended to fit in a DIN standard flush mounting wall box. The dimmer circuits are contained in a two part metal fitting. The lower part (1) is a housing for the circuit and has a clamping arrangement (5) for holding it in the recess in the wall. The upper part (6) acts as a heat sink or radiator, and may be ribbed to increase its surface area. It is securely clamped to the lower part by screws (8) to give good heat transfer between parts. It also compresses springs (9) which hold the coverplate (7) against the wall. An enclosing cover (10) with slits (13) to permit air circulation fits over the housing assembly and is attached by a screw (11). The control knob (12) is partly recessed in a depression in the cover. A small gap remains between cover plate and bottom of the enclosure (10) to compensate for varying thickness of wallpaper under the coverplate.
