Wooden table or work top with plastics edging - has shaped cut edge faces to cause shrinkage setting of plastics withstanding stresses

The cut faces (9) of the wooden table top are sealed round the edges by a plastics edging strip wherein directly adjoining the upper edge (11) the cut face (8) is drawn in to form a rear cut section (9) after which it then protrudes out again. Through this rear cut section and adjoining projection a build-up of material is obtained in the area of the cut face which when the plastics hardens shrinks more severely than the remaining area of the edging. Since the edging extends round the entire plate a strong tensile force arises in the direction of the cut faces owing to the shrinking forces. The edging is thus strongly biased so that even after long usage the edging does not become loose.
