The ceramic support plate is for ceramic items to be dried and/or burnt, being perforated to allow the passage of gas. The pattern of perforations is preferably a regular hexagonal honeycomb , the ribs of the outermost complete and/or incomplete perforations simultaneously forming the outer edges of the plate. The pattern can be so matched to the size of the rectangular plate that there are complete perforations along the outside at one edge whose outer ribs form a 120-deg. zigzag line. Along one adjacent side complete perforations alternate with bisected perforations offset for half a row, so as to form a 120-deg. meander line along the edge.
