The rock drill with a hollow tubular stem (31) so that dust can be extracted during drilling has a cutting tip formed by a flat plate (13) which fits into a slot across the end. This plate has two sloping cutting edges (14) forming an obtuse angle between them. The leading edges (33) of the tube on both sides of the plate slope backwards in the opposite direction to the sloping edge which is chamfered (14) towards it. The upper part of the hollow spindle forms the gripping zone for the jaws of the tool and terminates in a flange (37) forming a flat top.
