The locomotive for electric toy and model railways has a body attached on a chassis in two sections separated transverse to the length axis and comprising a long extending ballast weight. The two sections are made as the boiler and the driver's cab. The cab section (2) part of the construction can be hooked on transverse to the length axis of the ballast weight (3), with the ballast weight itself being held by attachment devices to the other section (1) of the body which produce a longitudinal adjustment movement of the ballast weight (3) within the construction unit and simultaneously a tensioning of both sections against each other.
