A car race game includes a facility for the model cars to trip switches to initiate a registration cycle for speed determination. Each vehicle has a projection bar (36) on either side of the front. Housings (30) are located along the track sides and contain two mechanically activated (3,4) switches. Plug-in units may be inserted in the bars on the vehicle to trip one or other of the switches. Each switch has a pivoted bar contacted by the vehicle. The lever operates a spring contact to make with a fixed contact.
