A lightweight steel roof consists of steel sheeting with trapezoidal corrugations which is supported by an infrastructure. The troughs and the tops of the crests are covered by a continuous expanded polystyrene concrete layer. A constructional steel mesh is embedded in the upper third of the crest overlay and is connected by dowels in the troughs to the infrastructure. The styrene concrete has a density of 350-750 kg per cu.m. The top is covered by a weather seal layer of foil, above a heat insulation layer with hot bitumen, if necessary. Such a roof has a fire resistance of at least 30 min., combined with a good rigidity and sound insulation.
