Cell consists of a housing (1) contg. a cavity (3) through which the liq. to be tested flows from an inlet to an outlet. Cavity (3) contains two measuring electrodes (20,21), and numerous artificial particles (I) made of an insulating material. Particles (I) are agitated by the flow of liq., and their smallest dimension is larger than the dia. of the outlet holes (11) for the liq. Particles (I) are pref. glass beads with roughened surfaces used to clean the interior of cavity (3), and esp. the working surfaces of electrodes (20,21). Electrode (20) pref. has a conical working surface (35), and is made of metal, whereas electrode (21) is pref. a metal foil. Housing (1) and its end walls (18,19) are pref. made of plexiglass (RTM). Used e.g. for the determn. of free chlorine left in drinking- bath- or tap-water after C12 or its cpds. have been added to disinfect the water.
