Wave motion power plant - has float lifted by impinging waves and returned by gravity driving pump for raising water to turbogenerator basin

The appts. is used for converting the wave motion along the shore into usable energy. It comprises a float which is suspended in a narrow channel converging shorewards so that it is driven upwards by the kinetic energy of each wave impinging against it. The float returns downwards under its own weight and its up and down movement drives a pump via pivoted levers to lift water to a higher level. The water is used to drive a turbo-generator set. The weight of the float may be variable by computer-controlled valves admitting sea-water to and draining it from its hollow space to adapt to the mean sea water and wave height levels at any time.
