Arrangement is described for measuring changes in condition of liq. pumped around a loop is esp. for measuring the oxygen consumption in a waste water activated sludge mixt. using a measurement sensor. The liq. is sucked into and forced out of a container (1) internal chamber (4) via an opening. A compression device moves inside the chamber and is of a corresponding cross-section. The pump (5) and measurement sensor (6) forming the liq. loop are arranged inside the container (1). The compression device may be a swivelling flap or a piston (2). The device is simply constructed, easy to operate and economical. Its control and regulation systems are economical and an additional tempering of the liq. is unnecessary. The device can be cleaned economically.
