Rotary road surface cutter - has disc with peripheral cutting segments and stabiliser inserts harder than disc in annular cutting region

The rotary cutter (1) is intended for cutting natural and artificial stone material, particularly a concrete or asphalt road surface. It comprises a carrier disc (2) with a number of cutting segments (3,4) e.g in sintered tungsten-cobalt with added diamond material, arranged around its periphery. The annular cutting region of the disc is provided with a number of stabiliser inserts (12) in a material with greater hardness than that of the disc. The inserts may be equally spaced in circumferential direction and may be radially staggered (R1-4). Their thickness may equal that of the disc and may be circular in shape. They may consist of hard metal.
