The throttle linkage for a motor vehicle has a spring-loaded damper between the accelerator pedal (1) and the carburettor lever (2) to progressively reduce the fuel flow after a set time, without the pedal setting altered. This allows the driver to accelerate to a set speed, followed by an automatic reduction in fuel flow, sufficient to maintain the speed. The linkage allows rapid accelerator movements for safety and adds a small modulation to the throttle setting. The damper has a separate lever (29) between the throttle linkage lever (11) and the throttle cable drive (21). It provides a simple fuel saving addition to the linkage without affecting the other function of the linkage.
