The casting mould for dental impressions consists of an open topped shell (1) with sloping sides, open at top and bottom, which is mounted on a flanged base. A vibrating plate is mounted on the open top, and a spacer member (3) with a spherical base is suspended inside. The shell is divided along a line (EE) each side of this spacer. The first half (5) forms approximately a straight side, in plan view, and the second half (6) forms an elongated curve. The supporting members for the spacer are attached to the centre of the first half. The second half incorporates two inwardly projecting locating lugs (15,16) at the top.
