The twine-tying mechanism is for an agricultural round baler, having a twine guide arm moved to and fro along an intake gap by a cam mechanism driven directly from the baler, and whose lateral feed is automatically controlled. The cam mechanism (12,17,18) is coupled to the baler drive (32) via an indexing mechanism (20,21) whose speed is adjustable while the machine is running. This mechanism can be arranged to operate at two or more different speeds during a tying operation.
