In the gas circuit (10) a branch (12) before the heater stage (11) channels some gas for heating so that it may be re-introduced into the circuit at the entry to the Laval jet (14). The heated gas (20) is mixed with the cold gas (19) in 1:10 proportions in the area (13) in front of the Laval jet (14) which itself has proportions of F:FL of 1.1 to 3. The gas channel (12) may be equipped with a regulating valve and a burner output in the area in front of the Laval jet (14). The regulating valve is pulsed at between 10Hz and 1kHz by a control circuit. The closed circuit has a resonator (15) followed by a diffuser (16). The gas is cooled (17) and compressed (18) before it re-enters the branch (12) preceding the heater (11). A 10:1 ratio of cold to hot gas is used and a mix temp. of 300-550K results. Inversion is achieved but further cooling due to great expansion after the Laval jet is not necessary so effecting material savings.
