The measuring device rapid flow rate profile evaluation uses a rotating pism to provide deflection of the Doppler laser measuring vol. along a line through the measuring range of the measuring object e.g. an acetylene oxygem flame. The dispersed light from the measuring vol is fed via a lens and an aperture plate to an optoelectronic evaluation circuit. Pref. the latter has a Bragg cell which causes deflection of the laser light through an angle proportional to the measured value. The laser light is then fed through the rotating prism once again to obtain deflection in the perpendicular direction with the obtained profile recorded on a film or photomatrix. The device allows the flow rate profile to be recorded in a time of less than 1/600 sec.
