The clamping device, and a decorative batten, or similar, with a shallow recess, serve for fixture to metal profiles, such as rails in suspended ceiling structures. The system may be used for holding cladding on buildings. The clamping device has a metal plate fitting the recess in the component (2) being fixed to the metal profile (4). This has pointed protrusions, on at least two opposite sides, and is curved between these, so that the length of projection between points equals the clear width of the recess. Fishplates (11) jut out between the protrusions, to fix the clamping device to the metal profile. This is esp. applicable to fireproof suspended panel ceilings, in old buildings being renovated, with simplified mounting.
