Sheet feed for document copier - transports sheets by one-way rotatable friction roller on reciprocating arm lifted near end of return stroke

The sheet feeding mechanism is intended for a document copier. Successive sheets are taken from the top of a stacked supply (6) by a friction roller (4) which is rotatable in one direction (C) using a reciprocating (A-B) vertically pivotable (D-F) carrier arm (1). The roller rotates during its return from the feed stroke and is lifted (F) out of contact (a) with the uppermost sheet of the stack as it approaches the end of the return stroke. This may be effected by a fixed inclined face (10a,b) on to which the roller (4) shaft (2) runs near the end of the return stroke.
