System for increasing traffic safety - has emergency vehicle e.g. ambulance etc. sending short-range warning signals for reception by all vehicles in vicinity

The system is arranged so that official vehicles may transmit warning signals over a distance of approx. 200 meters. These signals are received by all normal vehicles within the 200 m radius and trigger acoustic signals in the receiving vehicles. (The official vehicles may be ambulances, police cars, fire engines etc.) The frequency and range of the transmitted warning signals may be chosen as required. The acoustic signal may be replaced by an optical signal.
