Boiler waste heat use system - comprises coil of D-section pipe round flue and insert with baffles

The system makes use of waste heat from the boiler of a central-heating system, the flue being enclosed by a water-filled pipe coil forming a heat exchanger, and connected by valves to a heat-consumer unit. The coil is formed by a flattened pipe, of D-shaped cross-section and pref. of copper, the flat on its wall bearing against the outside of the flue, which contains an insert with baffles deflecting the gases. The insert can consist of a rectangular plate fixed along the centre line of the flue, and with portions cut out of it and bent alternately to opposite sides.
