The method determines the volume of a body substance of a living human being. It finds application particularly in slimming treatment under medical supervision. The substance is enclosed in a space of known volume filled with compatible gas, particularly air, and is set under initial pressure. The volume of the space and thus the gas pressure is then altered. Then the volume of a solid comparison standard is established, which generates the same gas pressure alteration, with the same volume alteration and the same initial pressure.
