Dry wire - drawing means of lubricant on the basis of poly - (3,5 - dithiophosphoric - 1,2,4 - thiadiazole) and poly - (2,5 - dithiophosphoric - 1,3,4 - thiadiazole)

Lubricant compsns. are based on a mixt. of (a) 10-85 wt. % fatty acids, (b) 1-10 wt. % S, (c) =85 wt. % soap formers, (d) =85 wt. % fillers, thickeners and/or viscosity modifiers, and (e) =10 wt. % glycerol. The compsns. also contain either 1-30 wt. % of a poly(dithio-thiazole) (I) or 0.1-25 wt. % of a synergistic mixt. of 1-99 wt.% MoS2 and 1-99 wt.% of (I), where (I) is of formula (Ia) and/or (Ib): (where R is a gp. of formula: or R is phenylene, biphenylylene, opt. substd. 2-50C alkylene or opt. substd. 5-50C cycloalkylene, where the (cyclo)alkylene gps. are opt. interrupted by O and/or S or (S)x; m = 0-10; n = 5-100; x = 1-5). Incorporation of (I) allows the MoS2 content to be reduced (even to zero) while still maintaining good ep properties, making the compsns. suitable for the use under high-severity conditions, e.g. for drawing stainless steel wires.
