Wire conveyor belt construction - includes bends in spiral wire portions round crossbars reversing winding direction

The conveyor belt is made of wire, having a wire loop running in a zig-zag pattern over the entire width and joining each two successive cross-bars together. The loop is wound in spirals round the bars. Each spiral portion (1) incorporates a bend (2) reversing the direction of winding, so that the strands of wire (3a,3b) between the cross-bars all run in a common plane. The pitch of the spirals can be such that there are gaps between successive individual turns, and the wire can pass through more than 180 deg. between the strands and the bends, and pref. more than 270 deg.
