Heat loss reducing device for chimneys of dwellings - consists of flap near chimney top with motor near bottom and linking-tackle inside flue

The device for reducing heat loss from chimneys, partic. of dwellings, is based on a flap valve, motor-driven and operated by the heating controls. The flap valve is fitted near the chimney top, the motor near the bottom. The power transmission equipment pref. consists of some kind of rope and tackle. The flap is removably suspended, by hooks on its back to one of which the tackle is connected, from a transverse spindle through the chimney, eccentrically located. The flap area on one side of the spindle is at least three times larger than that on the other.
