Dyeing polyamide-cellulose mixts. with water-soluble reactive dyes - continuously and uniformly with reduced fixation times, esp. for cord velvet

In the dyeing process, the polyamide portion is steam fixed in acid medium, and the cellulose portion is fixed, without an intermediate rinsing stage, in an alkaline impregnating bath. Partic. for cord velvet, but also for stretch cord, circular knitted goods, etc., made from mixts.of 15-50 or 50-85 pt.polyamide and 50-85 or 15-20 pt. cellulose and opt. 2-5 pt. of an elastomeric polyurethane fibre. The dyeings are uniform and with good wet fastness props; bi- or multi-coloured effects may also be obtained. Fixing times are short; i.e. 0.5-5, pref. 1-3 mins. forthe steaming process and 3-30, pref. 5-10 secs. for the alkali impregnation, compared with 60-90 mins. and 30-45 mins. for these stages in known processes.
