Figured weft-knit stretch fabric - using uncovered elastomeric yarn supported alternately by two non-elastomeric yarns

A stretch fabric knitted from an uncovered elastomeric yarn and a non-elastomeric yarn which are fed together to the needles has a figured pattern produced by floating the non-elastomeric yarn on a base of the elastomeric yarn, which continues to knit without the non-elastomer. To support the elastomer in the figured regions, a second non-elastomeric yarn is knitted with the elastomer at least in these areas. The use of a separate support yarn in the figured regions allows the use of an uncovered, in place of a covered, elastomeric yarn, which reduces the raw material costs and gives a lighter fabric.
