The dispenser is for paper sheets such as bank notes which are given out separately one after the other. A slot limiting device is fitted to prevent the simultaneous dispensing of more than one note which comprises a fixed slot limiting link and a dispensing roller. The fixed slot limiting link consists of a friction material, or is covered with such a material and has a surface equipped with a row of teeth. The dispensing roller is also made or covered with a friction material with its cover surface formed with ring shaped closed circumferential ribs. The teeth of the slot limiting link sink up to a limited depthbetween the ribs of the dispensing roller making contact with them with a limited force.
