A degraded pulse is restored into a square pulse irrespective of voltage levels by feeding it to one input of a comparator. It also passes through a delay element formed by a low-pass filter, is reduced by a potential divider and then goes to the other input of the comparator. The comparator switches on at the cross-over points (A,B) of the degraded pulse (Ust) and the slightly delayed and reduced pulse (Uv). The low-pass filter is formed by a simple R-C network. Fluctuations of the comparator are avoided by applying some feedback, thus resulting in a slight hysteresis effect.
