Provision is made for strengthening existing buildings, or parts of buildings, such as strongrooms in banks, to increase security against forcible entry. Reinforcement applied to an interior comprise an outer multi-layered protective plate (1) with at least one further, inner protective plate (2) at an interval from it. The space between them accommodates hard filling material (3). The outer plate has an armoured plate (4) on the outside, with a chemically active layer (5) pref. bitumen-based, added to it. The inner layer can have anchoring for concrete.
