The preventative piece against poultry pecking consists of a piece (1) which has an angled cross-section. The piece is placed on top of the bird's beak, with the tip of the piece protruding beyond the pointed end of the beak. The piece (1) has holes (5,6) for a fixture pin (7) to fit through, and has a ventilation hole (8). The fixture pin (7) has a head (9) and an enlarged end terminating in a point (10). When fixed, the pin is inserted through the bird's nostrils and into the holes (5,6).
