A principal tube (1) has a cylindrical coupler (2) fixed to it, which comprises four female elements (3). These female elements each receive a male element (4) of a complementary shape and slope which are attached to the end of a jointing tube (5). The male elements have flanks (4a) which protrude through the underside of the female elements and at least one of these flanks is provided with a slot (7) of a height such that part is masked by the flank of the female element. A sloping cotter pin (8) is pushed through the slot jamming the male and female elements together and improving the stability of the coupling.
