A magnetic detector for security lock is used to detect the displacement of two parts of the lock. It can also detect the proximity or absence of a part of the lock. The detector has a board (1) with printed circuit, terminals and two magnetic reed switches (7, 8). The board (1) is contained in a case (9) which may be fitted to the lock of a door. Another case (10) containing a permanent magnet (11) is fitted opposite the lock. The magnet (11) closes the reeds of one (8) of the switches when the door is closed. There is also in the first case (9) another permanent magnet (12). This second magnet (12) maintains the second reed switch (7) in 1st close position. The second magnet (12) and switch (7) prevent any interference with the function of the first magnet and switch (8, 11).
