UHF beam applicator system - provides uniform density beam through volume required to dry paper or heat food using shallow rectangular box

Applicator working at UHF wavelengths providing an approx. even distribution of power through a defined volume which is suitable for the drying out of paper, plaster and heating of food etc. The variation of power is maintined within given limits over a band of frequencies distributed about the centre frequency. The output 'horn' of the applicator is in the form of a shallow rectangular box (5a, b) attached to the side of a waveguide (11) and coupled into it via a series of slots (4) in-line with the axis of the waveguide. Phase correction is by short stubs (8) penetrating the horn and set so one side of the slots or by di-electric blocks similarly positioned.
