Pavement tile joint filling tool - has vibratory blade moved at angle over pavement to consolidate mortar in joints

The system of sealing the joints between the tiles or bricks of a pavement or similar surface, uses a vibratory tool to ensure that the mortar fills the cracks in a dense manner, without voids or bubbles. First of all the surface already laid is protected by a layer which prevents material sticking to the surface. Then a thick mortar is applied, the tool being used to fill the cracks. The head of the tool has a flat rectangular resilient blade which is kept at an angle of about 45 deg. to the plane of the pavement. The force of the vibrations is varied to ensure that the cracks are filled satisfactorily. The blade is also held so as to slope at an angle of about 65 deg. to its line of advance. Excess mortar is carried forwards along the surface. The mortar can be spread by hand or from a hopper, ahead of the tool.
