The heater which can be mounted on wheels (17) has a cylindrical casing (1) open at the discharge end (14). The controls are contained in a compartment (2) at the other end of the casing. There is an air fan (12) immediately behind the gas burner (6) in the section (3) of the casing in front of the controls. The burner is formed as a cylinder (5) with a tapered section leading to a flat top. The gas discharge holes (9) are arranged in two circular rings in the tapered section. The igniters (7, 8) project in front of the burner from the flat top.
