Braille relief display panel for the blind - has rods projected through holes in panel by bimorphous piezoelectric reeds, to represent e.g. contours or calculator read=out
The relief display panel for the blind consists of a plate with an array of holes through which the rounded ends (P) of rods can be projected by bimor-phouse piezoelectric reeds (L1, L2). The ends of the rods are coupled to the reeds by a rectangular tablet (E) of insulating material which has holes perpendicular to its largest surface. One hole engages a thread on one of the rods and the other rods pass freely through the remaining holes. The threaded hole communicates with a slot leading to one of the smaller surfaces of the tablet to grip the threaded rod. Pref. the width of the slot is less than one quarter of the diameter of the threaded hole. The slot may be formed by moulding or cutting.
