The hinge is for use on a bottom hung door (2) and compensates for the weight of the door by a system of levers (4, 5) and pin-joined links (6) with a coil spring (8). The V-shaped rocking lever (5) has a double fulcrum (11, 12) of which one (12) acts as a stop when the door attains the horizontal. The door may pivot about a horizontal axis (10) through a hooked triangular hinge plate (4) with a cantilevering strap (9). A pin jointed link (6) connects the plate (4) to one extremity (14) of the rocking lever (5). The other extremity is pinned (13) to a linear sliding stabilising bar (7) and one end of the spring (8).
